Digital DJ
My love of music began as a kid listening to my parents music - my Dad liked the jazz sound of the Big Bands of the 1940's and my Mom preferred easy listening radio favorites often referred to as "elevator music". When I was able to choose my own sounds - the then current sound was dominated by AM top 40 and on that new FM band you could hear, among others, acid rock (quietly so my parents couldn't hear). In the 70's I really got into the album oriented rock favored by many of the FM stations, my first compact cassette purchase was Traffic's "Low Spark" album. When the disco sound came along in the late 70's - I was sure that music had died and began reading books in my spare time, but I survived thanks to the amazing clarity of compact disc and the 80's hair bands that brought me back to the radio, the first CD I purchased was Mister Mister's "Welcome to the Real World". A few years ago I had the opportunity to DJ a sweet sixteen party only to realize that my music collection contained an absurd paucity of pop music for the last 20 years. I have been rectifying that oversight ever since and can easily handle requests from Skynyrd to Skrillex and The Crystals to Christina Perri.
